Finding the Perfect Log Bunk Bed

In planning your room’s décor many factors must be considered. For limited bedroom floor areas, there are available bunk beds in furniture homes and several websites on the Internet. However, not all these can supply you with log bunk beds just in case you want to add an extra touch of elegance to your room.

Log bunk beds are usually very sturdy and built to accommodate people who weigh up to 250 pounds. For these, logs from Pine trees are used. But if you want to go for a sturdier piece of furniture to make sure it can hold a person heavier than the usual, you could probably purchase one that’s made of Cedar wood. The logs you use however must also be dependent on the size of your room. If you have a small room, Cedar logs may be too massive. But whatever your bed is made of, make sure you invest on one with great quality. Such furniture will definitely be worth it since it could last a long time. Beds made out of quality materials can still be used even when you move out of your current room; and with this, you must also be sure that the bunk bed you will be purchasing is easy to assemble and easy to get in and out of your room or dormitory.

In choosing the right bunk bed for your room, you will find that there are many options to choose from. If you start searching over the Internet, you will find that there are loft log, twin over twin, full over full or even full over queen sized loft beds. Note that there are Federal regulations and standards on such beds. These are ruled out due to the common incidents of injury which are related to the use of loft or bunk beds. Whatever you decide to buy, make sure that these meet the government’s standards. Check if the bed has safety guardrails on every side of the upper bunk. Headboards are also required to ensure the safety of the occupant.

Some bunk beds although they are wooden, come with a metal frame to hold the mattresses. These frames are designed to work as alternatives to the wooden frames or “bunkie boards” which all hold the mattresses. “Bunkie Boards” can be purchased but it would probably be more economical if you do it yourself since this is just a cut piece of plywood which supports the mattress on your bed.

Another factor to consider when picking your bunk bed is the ladder that goes with you bed. This depends on the space you have in your room. Some ladders are made to lean diagonally on the side of the bunk bed, leading up to the upper bunk. It is attached to the side of the bed by a hook. If you lack space though, you can always go for ones which are built in vertically on the bed. Only thing about this is, it’s easier to climb up the leaning ladder than the vertical, attached one. Safety precautions must always be taken when climbing up to the top bunk. It has been reported that most accidents happen when people fall off the ladder or the upper bunk itself.

Nowadays, you don’t have to sacrifice beauty for functionality. There are many options for log bunk beds which add a classic touch to your room while freeing a lot of floor area for your usage.  Check out bunk beds with slide.
